Bites and Bits of History: Berlin Lake Construction and Operations
April 20 @ 12:00 pm EDT
Join the Mahoning Valley Historical Society for their April edition of Bites and Bits of History: “Berlin Lake Construction and Operations” with Park Ranger James Frost. Bring your lunch and enjoy this free presentation on Thursday, April 20, at noon at Tyler History Center. The presentation will also stream live on Facebook if you can’t make it in person.
Berlin Lake is a flood damage reduction project that protects the Mahoning River Valley. Since its completion in 1943, it has prevented flood damages estimated to be in excess of 2.6 billion dollars. Join Ranger James Frost for an in-depth presentation on the construction of the Berlin Dam, operations of a local U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project, and how Berlin Lake provides flood protection for the Mahoning Valley. This presentation will share numerous historical photos documenting the construction of the project from the early 1940’s.
