Mah Jongg Tournament Fundraiser

Registration is now open for the Friends of the Library Canfield Committee’s 5^th annual Mah Jongg Tourney. The fundraiser will be held on Tuesday, April 30 from 9am-2pm at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon Street Canfield. Proceeds of the tournament are used to benefit Children’s Programming across all branches of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County. Last year over $2000 was raised to give books to children completing the Summer Reading Program.

Mah Jongg players of all skill levels enjoy attending the annual tournament. The event begins with a meal and raffle ticket sales before tourney play at 10am. It closes with sweets and the announcement of game and raffle winners. The top three players receive cash prizes. The raffle promises many interesting and generous items. Make plans now with your foursome to attend; there is a limit of 25 tables. Tickets are $30 per person and the registration deadline is April 22. The Friends of the Library is a volunteer group that provides ongoing support to the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County through fundraising, book sales and advocacy. The 501c3 non-profit operates the Friends Bookstore located in the Poland Branch. Annual fundraisers include the Mah Jongg Tourney, Brew HaHa beer tasting, Local Author Presentations, Car Shows, and Book Sales. Operating countywide and at branch libraries, there is a Friends Committee near you. New members are welcome.
