Romania: Culture and Cuisine

Mahoning Valley Historical Society announces the next dinner event in its Culture and Cuisine series that celebrates the rich diversity of cultures within the Mahoning Valley. Romania: Culture and Cuisine will be held on Monday, May 1, at 5pm at Holy Trinity Romanian Orthodox Church, located at 626 Wick Avenue, next door to Arms Family Museum. The cost to attend is $30 for MVHS members, and $35 for non-members.
Based on his keen interest in his Romanian roots and his travel to that country, speaker George D. Beelen, Jr. will present a multi-media program of Romania’s customs and traditions. The ethnic meal will consist of many traditional items such as chicken stew, Romanian sausage, stuffed cabbage, and mamaliga (similar to Italian polenta). Salad, sides, and dessert will also be served.
The Culture and Cuisine series is coordinated by the Mahoning Valley Cultural Alliance, an advisory group under the umbrella of MVHS. This group was the former Ohio Cultural Alliance before joining MVHS in 2019.
