What made you want to go into this field?
When I was younger I had a paper route. I had saved a little bit of money and my dad suggested I invest it, which I did. That started my interest in the stock market.
What’s the biggest factor that has helped you be successful?
Hard work, patience and not giving up.
What is the biggest professional mistake you made along the way?
While I’ve made the daily kind of mistakes that we make in the course of working, I can’t say that I feel I’ve made a big professional mistake. I like what I do.
What is the hardest decision you ever had to make in this field?
At times I’ve had to decide between different roles in the company.
If you could start all over again, what would you do differently regarding your profession?
No.
What inspires you to do good in our community?
Over the years, I’ve observed many community leaders and learned from their example, particularly business people who have volunteered for a variety of not-for-profit organizations. I’ve tried to follow their examples.
What do you enjoy most about volunteering in our community?
I enjoy seeing the people and organizations benefit from the volunteering I do or the boards where I serve. It’s great to see the fundraising or the decision making turn into something that positively affects people’s lives.
What song best describes you or is the soundtrack to your life?
This is a hard one! Hmmm. My Way by Frank Sinatra.
What is your best accomplishment/experience in life?
Serving as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Youngstown State University.
