The 55th Curbstone Coaches Hall of Fame banquet, sponsored by Briarfield Health Care Centers and Ed and Diane Reese, is set for Sunday, May 5 with 12 new members set for enshrinement during ceremonies at Mr. Anthony’s Banquet Center in Boardman.

Former NFL official and current national network television rules analyst, Gene Steratore, will serve as guest speaker.

Born May 15, 1960, Kimerer is a 1978 graduate of Berlin Center Western Reserve High School and a 1982 graduate of Youngstown State University where he earned his BS in business, majoring in advertising art with minors in both marketing and management.

He was introduced to the sport of bowling in 1967 by his father, Donald Kimerer, at Wedgewood Lanes in Austintown when he joined the Wedgewood Pee Wee League, receiving his first trophy at age seven for bowling the league’s high game (185).

During his scholastic years the Blue Devils did not offer bowling as a sanctioned sport by the OHSAA (Ohio High School Athletic Association), so for four years he was a member of the Junior Bowling Leagues at Colonial Lanes in Canfield until he became of age and was able to join the adult men’s leagues at various area bowling lanes located throughout the Mahoning Valley.

During his undergraduate years at YSU (1978-1982), he was a highly coveted member of their men’s club bowling team, a group that traveled to college tournaments throughout Ohio each weekend.

In the 80’s, he was a member of the OTBA (Ohio Tournament Bowling Association), traveling once a month throughout the state of Ohio to bowl against the absolute best amateur and regional professional bowlers the state had to offer.

A member of the YMBA (Youngstown Men’s Bowling Association) for over 45 years, he has competed in various men’s leagues (two or three) each year while being a team member of multiple league team championships, achieving a career-high 221 average.

During those years of participating in the Youngstown City Tournament (singles, doubles and team events), he cashed in during multiple events over the years and most recently was a member of the winning team (Cormel Floors) in the (2017-2018) Team Actual Event at McKinley Lanes.

Throughout his well-documented career, he has bowled and cashed in at a variety of prominent bowling tournaments including the Ohio State bowling tournaments, Slovak bowling tournaments, Ohio Inter-City bowling tournaments, Transportation tournaments (Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York) and the famous Peterson Classic Bowling Tournament for 10 years, which was held in Chicago for 10 years.

Along with a high average of 221, he has bowled seven 300 games and achieved a high three-game set of 808, doing so on four separate occasions.

He is the father of a daughter, Carly (Kimerer) Morris and son-in-law, Mason, and resides in Austintown with his wife, Cindy Bella.

He has two stepchildren, Elaina Bella and George Bella (Chelsea Brossette), and is “Papa” to grandchildren Georgie Bella and Micah Brossette.
