(Youngstown, OH) – The Robert W. Reeder Speaker Series:History Happened Here, explores subjects in local & regional history, highlighting the contributions of Ohio and Ohioans at important moments in national & world history.  On Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at 12:00 pm, The YSU 9/11 Memorial with Anthony Spano will be featured.

In observance of the 20th anniversary of September 11th, Anthony Spano will discuss his role in the creation of the 9/11 Memorial on the campus. The memorial is dedicated to YSU history alum, Terry Lynch, who lost his life in the attack on the Pentagon.

Anthony Spano was one of the students who spearheaded the construction of the memorial. “The dedication of the 9/11 Memorial was to commemorate the attacks on the World Trade Centers, the Pentagon and the plane that was brought down in Pennsylvania by passengers. We wanted to always remember the more than 2,977 people who were killed and the more than 6,000 others who were injured.”
