Stories of the Mahoning Valley Immigrants: Hispanic Heritage

Mahoning Valley Cultural Alliance announces its last Stories of Mahoning Valley Immigrants series of the year that celebrates the rich diversity of cultures within the Mahoning Valley. The next event recognizing those who immigrated from Hispanic countries will be held on Monday, October 7, at 5pm at OCCHA Social Hall, located at 3660 Shirley Road, Youngstown. The cost to attend is $35 for Mahoning Valley Historical Society members, and $40 for non-members.
Speaking at the event will be Dr. Consuelo Mendez, a physician born in the Dominican Republic who has been serving our community for more than 30 years. The meal will consist of Puerto Rican rice and pork shoulder, chicken breast medallions stuffed with mashed plantains wrapped with bacon and béchamel sauce, salad with strawberry dressing, flan and tres leches. Cultural enrichment will be provided by Argentinian cellist, Silvia Games DuBos, and several dance performers.
