The Arms Family Museum in Youngstown, Ohio, becomes a time capsule of holiday magic every December with its celebrated Memories of Christmas Past exhibit. Stepping inside feels like walking into a snow globe filled with vintage charm. Visitors are greeted by glittering Christmas trees adorned with mid-century ornaments, hand-crafted decorations and twinkling lights reminiscent of holiday traditions from bygone eras. Each room in the museum tells a story of how families from the early 20th century celebrated the season, with displays featuring antique toys, delicate porcelain figurines and period-authentic holiday cards. The warmth of nostalgia fills the air, inviting guests to reflect on how the spirit of Christmas has endured through the generations.

What makes this exhibit even more special is its dedication to preserving the history and joy of the holidays. Many of the pieces on display are donated treasures from the community, each with its own story to tell. Whether it’s a lovingly restored Santa figurine or a rare set of mercury glass ornaments, every artifact contributes to a rich tapestry of local holiday heritage. The Memories of Christmas Past exhibit isn’t just about decorations—it’s a celebration of the connections, traditions and memories that make the season truly magical. It’s no wonder the Arms Family Museum has become a must-visit destination for families seeking inspiration and a little old-fashioned holiday cheer.

MVHS will joyfully open the 16th Memories of Christmas Past exhibit at Arms Family Museum, 648 Wick Avenue, Youngstown, OH on Saturday, November 16, 2024 through New Year’s Eve, Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
