Each week, #SpanningtheNeed will present an “Inspirational Person of the Week’ and have a “Q & A” with one of its many gifted individuals and/or groups who are willing to go out of their own way to help others. Among the myriad of joyous occasions, one particularly special event stands out – the graduation of high school seniors. This year, as we bid farewell, our local area high schools are taking a step further and Spanning the Need is honoring and spotlighting the achievements of these bright young minds. This week’s featured senior is Aidan O’Donnell from Howland High School.

What are your plans after graduation?
Attend an undecided college.

What is your favorite class?
My favorite class is Government.

What accomplishments during your high school journey are you most proud of, and how do you feel they have shaped you as an individual?
Throughout my high school journey, I am most proud of my commitment to my academics and athletics. My accomplishments in the classroom and on the mat reflect my strong work ethic.

Beyond academics, what extracurricular activities, volunteering in the community or passions have played a crucial role in your high school life, and how have they influenced your future goals?
Throughout my time volunteering as an NHS member, I have greatly enjoyed volunteering with the younger Howland students. From baseball lessons to reading books, my time spent volunteering has greatly influenced my passion to positively impact future generations.

What is the most memorable moment in your scholastic career?
Writing my COMMON APP essay. It has forced me to reflect upon the past years of my life.

What made their impact so meaningful?
Mr. Zakrajsek has been a great mentor to me throughout my time as a high school wrestler. Throughout the past years, I have experienced many ups and downs on and off the mat. Every time, Mr. Zakrajsek has been there to provide guidance.

What is your favorite sports-related movie?
Rocky

What is your favorite food?
Tacos

What song best describes you or is the soundtrack to your life?
I couldn’t choose just one!

Do you have a field of study already chosen when you go to college? Why that field?
Im currently undecided.

Who is your role model?
My Dad!

If there was one person you would want to meet, past or present, who would it be and why?
I would want to meet one of my grandparents who passed away before I was born. I think it would be really cool to have a conversation with one of my ancestors.

A favorite quote by which you live.
“Be curious, not judgmental”.
