Michael Wilson, Deputy Sheriff of the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office, has been voted the recipient of the Spanning the Need Inspirational Person of the Year award, voted on by the community. The announcement came this evening on Spanning the Need’s social media platforms.

Michael Wilson’s dedication to public service has been a cornerstone of his career as a deputy sheriff, contributing to the safety and well-being of Mahoning County residents for over two decades. His exemplary service and commitment to upholding the principles of justice have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the community.

The voting took place over two weeks at the beginning of December, with community members voting up to 10 times daily. Twenty-four great individuals from the community were up for this prestigious award.

In addition to his role in law enforcement, Michael Wilson has gained recognition as an award-winning cosplayer, showcasing his creativity and talent in bringing fictional characters to life.

Beyond his professional and creative endeavors, Michael Wilson has demonstrated a deep commitment to philanthropy, using his platform to make a positive impact on the lives of others. Michael often works closely with charity organizations as a sponsor and has partnered with over 200 organizations worldwide to fundraise and bring awareness to these organizations.

In his article earlier in the year, Michael talked about doing good in the community, “I hope that in whatever way I do good, it inspires others to do good in their own way. A part of me also wants to leave my mark. It’s easy to coast and not get involved, and honestly, there’s nothing wrong with that, but for me, I want to try and be the change, no matter how small the impact is.”

STN hopes to help create more awareness surrounding the kind acts of others that may go unrecognized. We hope to teach important social and emotional lessons while spotlighting those extraordinary individuals, and our goal is that those stories will inspire and motivate others to give back.
