February is the month of love. On the 14th day of the second month of the year, Valentine’s Day is celebrated all over the world, the protector of lovers. It is the day in which many couples renew their marriage vows, the day in which many lovers take advantage of it to give themselves gifts and spend a pleasant day and evening together.

STN Inspirational Quotes To Keep You Inspired in 2023

Surely, there is no shortage of events that you can participate in to celebrate this romantic day in big cities such as Mahoning Valley, New York City and Los Angeles, your hometown or the main European capitals. But there is one particular place in the world where Valentine’s Day is celebrated by an entire city.

How to spend a unique Valentine’s Day in Italy

Let’s go to Italy. We are in Umbria, in the city of Terni where Saint Valentine was born in the year 176. Here the Bishop and Christian martyr, who loved to spread love among all living beings, became the saint of lovers’ day. Therefore, to spend an original Valentine’s Day, there is no better place than Terni, where this tradition was born,

On that particular day, the small Italian city of 100,000 inhabitants becomes the center of the world. Located a few miles from Rome, spending that day in Terni will certainly give you sensations never experienced before.

Between events, local beauties, and Italian food

There is no shortage of events organized in the city. On February 14, couples arrive in Terni from all over the world, they get married right in the basilica of San Valentino, getting married in the city of love is priceless.

In the city, on the other hand, the event linked to chocolate called Cioccolentino takes place. Chocolate-related events take place from December 10 to 14. In the streets of the city and it is possible to taste many types of chocolate, one of the most aphrodisiac foods in the world. They are all seasoned with pleasant musical entertainment on the streets of the city.

If you decide to spend Valentine’s Day in Terni (we highly recommend it), a stop at the Marmore Falls is mandatory (a reservation is required). Here there is the highest artificial waterfall in Europe with the characteristic balcony of lovers, an incredible place to admire the waterfalls even closer with your partner and immortalize an unforgettable moment. In addition to this, the entire waterfall is worth a visit, with its paths and green bush.

For the Love of Dogs, Send a Special Furry Friend a Valentine This Year

A food tour cannot be missing. On that precise day, many restaurants prepare Valentine’s menu where couples, in addition to visiting the city, and participating in organized events, can also delight in the local cuisine. Suggestive are some of the places around the Cascata delle Marmore or Lake Piediluco, another place to admire, a place that takes you to another dimension. Here it is possible to eat the famous lake fish of the area. But even in the city, there is no shortage of clubs and restaurants where you can taste the typical local dishes.

Traveling to Italy by stopping in Terni, especially during Valentine’s Day is something to try, to renew the love of a couple, but also to enjoy the beauty of this town, small but attractive at any time of the year.
