Summer Film Fridays Series 2024 – Robin Series

The Robins Theatre is proud to announce our 2024 SUMMER FILM FRIDAYS SERIES which will include nine feature presentations at the historic Robins Theatre in downtown Warren, Ohio throughout this summer. Take the whole family to see some of the most beloved summer blockbusters of all time!

Films begin at 7 p.m. and the doors will open at 6 p.m.

Tickets to each film cost $7 (ONLY $7! NO FEES!) and are on sale now at www.robinstheatre.com and at the Robins Theatre box office at 160 E Market St. Warren, Ohio. The box office is open Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and on the night of the shows.

JAWS: Friday, June 7 at 7 p.m.

Jaws is a 1975 American thriller film directed by Steven Spielberg, based on the 1974 novel by Peter Benchley. It stars Roy Scheider as police chief Martin Brody, who, with the help of a marine biologist (Richard Dreyfuss) and a professional shark hunter (Robert Shaw), hunts a man-eating great white shark that attacks beachgoers at a summer resort town.

NATIONAL LAMPOONS VACATION: Friday, June 14 at 7 p.m. (Father’s Day Weekend)

National Lampoon’s Vacation is a 1983 American road trip black comedy directed by Harold Ramis. Accompanied by their children (Dana Barron, Anthony Michael Hall), Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) and his wife, Ellen (Beverly D’Angelo), are driving from Illinois to a California amusement park. As Clark increasingly fixates on a beautiful woman driving a sports car, the Griswolds deal with car problems and the death of a family member. They reach Los Angeles, but, when Clark worries that the trip is being derailed again, he acts impulsively to get his family to the park.

FERRIS BUELLERS DAY OFF: Friday, June 21 at 7 p.m.   

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is a 1986 American teen comedy film written, co-produced, and directed by John Hughes. The film stars Matthew Broderick, Mia Sara, and Alan Ruck, with supporting roles from Jennifer Grey, Jeffrey Jones, Cindy Pickett, Edie McClurg, Lyman Ward, and Charlie Sheen. It tells the story of a high school slacker, Ferris, who skips school with his best friend Cameron and his girlfriend Sloane for a day in Chicago, regularly breaking the fourth wall to explain his techniques and inner thoughts.

INDEPENDENCE DAY: Friday, June 28 at 7 p.m.  

Independence Day is a 1996 American science fiction action film directed by Roland Emmerich, written by Emmerich and Dean Devlin, and stars an ensemble cast that consists of Will Smith, Bill Pullman, Jeff Goldblum, Mary McDonnell, Judd Hirsch, Margaret Colin, Randy Quaid, Robert Loggia, James Rebhorn, and Harvey Fierstein. The film focuses on disparate groups of people who converge in the Nevada desert in the aftermath of a worldwide attack by a powerful extraterrestrial race. With the other people of the world, they launch a counterattack on July 4—Independence Day in the United States.

YANKEE DOODLE DANDY: Friday, July 5 at 7 p.m.  

Yankee Doodle Dandy is a 1942 American biographical musical film about George M. Cohan, known as “The Man Who Owned Broadway”. Brought to the White House to receive a Congressional Gold Medal from President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Broadway legend George M. Cohan (James Cagney) reflects on his life. Flashbacks trace Cohan’s rise, from a childhood performing in his family’s vaudeville act to his early days as a struggling Tin Pan Alley songwriter to his overwhelming success as an actor, writer, director and producer known for patriotic songs like “Yankee Doodle Dandy,” “You’re a Grand Old Flag” and “Over There.”

HERBIE THE LOVE BUG: Friday, July 19 at 7 p.m.

The Love Bug (also known as Herbie the Love Bug) is a 1969 American sports adventure comedy film directed by Robert Stevenson. The film follows the adventures of a sentient Volkswagen Beetle named Herbie, Herbie’s driver, Jim Douglas (Dean Jones), and Jim’s love interest, Carole Bennett (Michele Lee). It also features Buddy Hackett as Jim’s enlightened, kind-hearted friend, Tennessee Steinmetz, a character who creates “art” from used car parts. English actor David Tomlinson portrays the villainous Peter Thorndyke, the owner of an automobile showroom and an SCCA national champion who sells Herbie to Jim and eventually becomes his racing rival.

GOONIES: Friday, July 26 at 7 p.m.

The Goonies is a 1985 American adventure comedy film directed and co-produced by Richard Donner from a screenplay by Chris Columbus based on a story by Steven Spielberg and starring Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Jeff Cohen, Corey Feldman, Kerri Green, Martha Plimpton, and Ke Huy Quan. In the film, a group of kids who live in the “Goon Docks” neighborhood of Astoria, Oregon, attempt to save their homes from foreclosure and, in doing so, they discover an old treasure map that takes them on an adventure to unearth the long-lost fortune of One-Eyed Willy, a legendary 17th-century pirate. During the adventure, they are pursued by a family of criminals who want the treasure for themselves.

THE SANDLOT: Friday, August 2 at 7 p.m.   

The Sandlot is a 1993 American coming-of-age sports comedy film co-written, directed, and narrated by David Mickey Evans. It tells the story of a group of young baseball players during the summer of 1962. When Scottie Smalls (Thomas Guiry) moves to a new neighborhood, he manages to make friends with a group of kids who play baseball at the sandlot. Together they go on a series of funny and touching adventures. The boys run into trouble when Smalls borrows a ball from his stepdad that gets hit over a fence.

CADDYSHACK: Friday, Aug 23 at 7 p.m.

Caddyshack is a 1980 American sports comedy film directed by Harold Ramis and starring Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield, Ted Knight, Michael O’Keefe and Bill Murray. It tells the story of a caddie, vying for a caddie scholarship, who becomes involved in a feud on the links between one of the country club’s founders and a nouveau riche guest. A subplot involves a greenskeeper who uses extreme methods against an elusive gopher.
