LOOP Youngstown Variety Show

LOOP Youngstown Arts & Culture Center will host a variety show and art raffle Sunday, October 6 from 4:00-8:00pm at Westside Bowl, 2617 Mahoning Ave. The event will further LOOP’s initiative to purchase a building to support local artists with studio space and opportunities to hone business skills, show and sell their work, and collaborate on community projects. Event tickets cost $10 in advance, available from WestsideBowl.com, and $15 at the door.
Actor Calvin Brown will emcee showcase performances by musicians, poets, actors and storytellers. The event kicks off with the Youngstown Area Community Concert Band playing music from their summer season, “The Music of Nations.” Other performers include
- poets Lena Carson, Erin Stubbs, Jimmy Sutman and Liz Hicks
- storytellers Rick Schilling, Bill Mullane and Lowell Satre
- Jimmy Sutman and Purple Cat friends as “Carnac the Magnificent”
- actors from Hopewell Theatre and Youngstown Playhouse performing scenes and showtunes
- ASL interpreter Meagan Albani and musician Anthony Gill teaching the song “Rainbow Connection” in American sign language
The event will conclude with a performance by TaeShawn Madison, Youngstown based recording artist and vocalist. Specific performance times are available on LOOP Youngstown’s website and social media pages.
An art raffle at the event will feature work by Robyn Maas, Tony Nicholas, Tony Armeni, Brian Hill, Venise Abell, Marisa LaGuardia, Jack Wendle and others.
Winning tickets will also be drawn for an online art raffle for three artworks: “Encoding” by Dragana Crnjak inspired by traditional Slavic crochet patterns and landscapes, “Symbols of Divine Power” by Bill Mullane, and a framed limited edition Yoko Ono poster “Imagine Peace,” donated by Bill Mullane. Tickets for this special raffle are 2 for $5 and are available at LOOPyoungstown.org.
The variety show is part of a series of fundraisers hosted by LOOP Youngstown Arts & Culture Center to raise money to purchase a building, introduce the project to the community, and promote the arts. More information is available at LOOPyoungstown.org.
