America 250: Ohio – Canfield Revolutionary War Veterans

Suzy McCabe, President of the Canfield Historical Society, will present a lecture on Canfield Revolutionary War Veterans on Thursday, November 13 from 6:00pm-7:00pm at the Canfield Library. In 1776, the Continental Congress approved the Declaration of Independence, officially announcing the 13 colonies were severing ties with Britain. A war ensued, with the major combat ending at Yorktown in 1781; the Treaty of Paris was signed in 1783. The Connecticut Western Reserve opened for settlement in 1795 and Canfield was surveyed in 1798. Revolutionary War veterans were among the early settlers who contributed to the growth of the village.
