45th St. Patrick’s Parade Sun., Mar. 12, Dr. John Cox named Grand Marshal of the Parade

This year the Mahoning Valley St. Patrick’s Parade will celebrate its 45th Anniversary! The parade is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. on Sun., Mar. 12 and the parade route will stretch down Market St. in Boardman, beginning at the Boardman Township Government Center and ending at Southwoods Dr.

This year’s theme is “The Irish Heart …Serving Our Valley.” The Mahoning Valley St. Patrick’s Parade is one of the largest parades in the state of Ohio. Each year 25,000 to 30,000 spectators come out to celebrate the tradition. Tapped as Grand Marshal of the parade is Dr. John Cox. Named of Lord Mayor of Kilkenny is Mary Jane Vennitti, and Ockerman Award winner is Brian Kelly.

“I am honored to be chosen as Grand Marshall, serving our valley, is so special to me. Community service was instilled in me by my father so I feel proud to be in this position, added Dr. Cox.

Putting a Smile on Someones Face Tends to Put One on Ours, Too

The parade will take place in Boardman, Ohio for the 45th year..This event has attracted more and more people and it only grows year in and year out. This is a family event for all ages.

Dr. Cox went on to add, “St Patrick’s Day is like Christmas for my family, so they are all excited as well. I’ve been going to the parade since the beginning and to now be a part of it, in this capacity, is humbling.”
