Maestro Ochsner chose this as evocative introduction to the dawn of a new\, exciting season for the YSO. They continue their journey with Anna Thorvaldsdottir’s ARCHORA. Composed in 2022\, it is a compelling work that explores the idea of an omnipresent\, transforming\, and primordial energy — an essential piece that fuels the longevity of orchestral art. The first half concludes with the optimistic spirit of Mendelssohn’s Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage\, a musical wish for success in this new chapter. \nThey then return to the Maestro’s Nordic heritage with Carl Nielsen’s Symphony No. 4\, “The Inextinguishable.” Written during the First World War\, this triumphant work is a celebration of the elemental will to live.
