SUMMARY:National Vietnam Veterans Day
DESCRIPTION:National Vietnam War Veterans Day on March 29 honors the men and women who served and sacrificed during the longest conflict in United States history. \n\n\n \n#VietnamWarVeteransDay\nOn March 29\, 1973\, combat and combat support units withdrew from South Vietnam. Generations later\, Veterans of this time period are gaining the respect that was not so freely given upon their return. Involving five U.S. presidents\, crossing nearly two decades and 500\,000 U.S.military personnel\, it left an indelible mark on the American psyche. \nReturning veterans did not always receive respectful welcomes upon their arrival on American soil. Over 58\,000 killed\, never to return. The observance recognizes the military service of these men and women who answered the call to serve their country when she needed them. They didn’t make the decision to go to war. \nThroughout National Vietnam War Veterans Day\, we recognize the service and duty rendered by all servicemen and women of this era. \n\n\n \nHOW TO OBSERVE VIETNAM WAR VETERANS DAY\n\nOrganizations across the country host events honoring National Vietnam War Veterans Day. These events include memorials\, speeches\, and luncheons honoring Vietnam veterans and their families.\nInvite a veteran you know to join you or help organize an event.\nThank a Vietnam Veteran.\nBuy them a drink or lunch.\nVisit a local memorial. SUMMARY:April Fools Day
DESCRIPTION:April Fools’ Day on April 1st has long been a day when practical jokes and tricks are played on the unaware. It’s a time when children convince their parents they’ve broken a bone. Parents get in on the planning\, too. Classic April Fools’ jokes include caramel covered onions or fake doggy doo-doo in inconvenient places. Businesses launch impractical or unbelievable products for the fun of the day and newspapers print incredible headlines catching readers off guard. \n\n\n \n#AprilFoolsDay\nOf course\, the trick to a good April Fools’ prank is planning. And you also need to be the first to pull it off. There’s no point in pursuing your prank if someone else beats you to it. Once the foolery has been triggered\, everyone else will be on high alert and the element of surprise will be lost. \nSome practical jokers go to great lengths to pull off their ruse. The more people involved the greater the risk of being discovered before the great plan can be deployed. \n\n\n \nHOW TO OBSERVE APRIL FOOLS’ DAY\n\nPrepare your best pranks and practical jokes.\nShare stories of your greatest April Fools’ jokes.\nBe safe playing your pranks and be sure to have a good laugh. It’s all in fun.\nShare your experiences being fooled and laugh while you reminisce.\nUse #AprilFoolsDay to post on social media.\n\nSource Link

SUMMARY:World Autism Awareness Day
DESCRIPTION:World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD)\, on April 2nd each year shines a bright light on a growing global health crisis. \n\n\n \n#WorldAutismAwarenessDay or #WAAD\nAccording to the National Autism Association\, Autism affects 1 in 59 children. The bio-neurological developmental disability usually presents itself by the age of three\, and it is more prevalent in boys than girls. \nAs children with autism grow older\, they face all sorts of obstacles. Because many don’t speak or use social cues as you or if do\, they become targets for bullies or are excluded altogether. Children with autism are also vulnerable to drowning because they wander from their homes and schools. Due to their inability to communicate\, they cannot tell someone their name or where they live\, either. Additionally\, adults are more likely to be unemployed or underemployed. \nHowever\, resources are available for families and schools to help keep children safe and to support them lead happy and healthy lives. Visit the National Autism Association website for resources\, guides\, and tips for families and schools. \nThe day also focuses on the growing need for programs designed to support those with autism now and in the future. \n\n\n \nHOW TO OBSERVE WORLD AUTISM AWARENESS DAY\n\nHost an event supporting autism awareness.\nAttend an event and show your support for someone you know.\nShare your story and make your voice heard.\nWhile the day also celebrates the stories and lives of those with autism\, it’s also important to remember that autism is a lifelong condition with varying degrees of severity. It’s important to continue to support research for treatment and therapies that will improve the lives of those with autism.\nSpeak out about autism to help eliminate the stigma associated with it.\nAnd use #WorldAutismDay to share on social media.\n\nSource Link

SUMMARY:National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day
DESCRIPTION:On April 2nd each year\, National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day celebrates a classic food favorite. The average American will have eaten over 2000 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches by the time they graduate from high school. \n\n\n \n#PeanutButterAndJellyDay\nPeanut butter was considered a delicacy in the early 1900s and was only served in New York City’s finest tea rooms. In a May 1896 article published in the Good Housekeeping magazine\, a recipe “urged homemakers to use a meat grinder to make peanut butter and spread the result on bread.”  That same year\, in June\, the culinary magazine Table Talk\, published a “peanut butter sandwich recipe.” \nIt is thought that Julia Davis Chandler issued the first reference to peanut butter (or paste) paired with jelly on bread in the United States in 1901. Her article is found in the Boston Cooking School Magazine of Culinary Science and Domestic Economics. In the late 1920s\, the price of peanut butter declined\, and the sandwich became very popular with children. \nAccording to the Peanut Board\, during World War II\, both peanut butter and jelly were part of the United States soldiers’ military ration list. \nIn 1968\, The J.M. Smucker Co. introduced Goober\, a jarred product that combined alternating vertical stripes of peanut butter and jelly. \n\n\n \nHOW TO OBSERVE PEANUT BUTTER AND JELLY DAY\n\nEat something with peanut butter and jelly.\nIt may be a good day to try something different. The following are a few peanut butter and jelly ideas to help you out!\n\n\n\n\nCupcakes\nFrench Toast\nPie\nSushi\nCookies\nDonuts\nPancakes\nFudge\n\n\nWe’ve also created a hidden picture puzzle. Find the hidden peanuts in the picture. We’ve included the key if you think you’ve found them all.\nAlso\, we turned the image into a coloring page. Download and print it off. Have fun! SUMMARY:National Education and Sharing Day
DESCRIPTION:National Education and Sharing Day is observed annually on the 11th day of the month of Nisan on the Jewish calendar – or 4 days before Passover begins. \n\n\n \n#EducationAndSharingDay\nIn his 2009 proclamation on Education and Sharing Day\, President Barack Obama wrote: \n“Few have better understood or more successfully promoted these ideas than Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson\, the Lubavitcher Rebbe\, who emphasized the importance of education and good character. Through the establishment of educational and social service institutions across the country and the world\, Rabbi Schneerson sought to empower young people and inspire individuals of all ages. On this day\, we raise his call anew.” \nOn March 21\, 2013\, while making his first trip to Israel as president\, a proclamation was issued\, and President Barack Obama declared March 22\, 2013\, Education and Sharing Day\, U.S.A. That year was the 111th anniversary of the birth of the Rebbe\, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson. Reinforcing the importance of education\, in this proclamation\, the President stated:      \n\n\n \n“We also know that learning does not stop when students leave the classroom. Whether at the dinner table or on the field\, it is our task as parents\, teachers\, and mentors to make sure our children grow up practicing the values we preach. We have an obligation to instill in them the virtues that define our national character — honesty and independence\, drive and discipline\, courage and compassion.” \nHOW TO OBSERVE EDUCATION AND SHARING DAY\n\nLearn about the Rebbe\, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson.\nDemonstrate how education and sharing is universally important.\nUse #EducationAndSharingDay to post on social media.\n\nSource Link

SUMMARY:World Party Day
DESCRIPTION:World Party Day on April 3rd encourages a coordinated effort of joyful human celebration around the globe. \n\n\n \n#WorldPartyDay\nThe world gathers to celebrate for many reasons. Forming a party often includes food\, beverages\, music\, games\, and other festivities. Hosts often create a theme or the theme generates the party. Several common modern-day party themes include bachelor and bachelorette\, birthday\, retirement\, anniversary\, graduation and welcome home. Many other party themes focus on specific foods. \nIn our modern world\, parties can also be virtual. We don’t always have to gather in the same location to celebrate a specific event or day. Technology brings us together through video and the internet allowing us to connect long-distance and celebrate all our favorite ways. \nThe novel Flight: A Quantum Fiction Novel\, by Vanna Bonta published in 1995\, which concludes with a synchronized worldwide celebration that occurs on April 3\, 2000\, is the inspiration for World Party Day. Gatherings can be small or large organized festivals. \n\n\n \nHOW TO OBSERVE WORLD PARTY DAY\n\nWhere ever you are\, celebrate with friends and family. Pick a theme that best fits the day. We’ve created a list of fun ideas to invite friends to join you virtually. Go online and create a video chat or an event on social media to share your party.\n\nMake your own pizza party – Everyone makes their own creative pizza. Share the recipe with other party participants.\nMovie night party – Pick a movie that all your party invitees will be watching. Pop popcorn and grab your drinks. Everyone starts the movie at the same time and lets the comments fill the online event page.\nTrivia party night – Play online trivia in a video chat with friends and family.\nDance party – Challenge friends to record their best dance moves and share them with each other.\nGame party – Hook up the gaming systems and invite friends and family to join you in the virtual world of games.\nArt party – Do it Bob Ross style and invite a local artist to demonstrate techniques for a group of your friends all through the power of the internet. Schedule your events around their already scheduled ones to show your support and appreciation.\nTake-out party – Pick your favorite restaurants and do a take-out party. Pick just appetizers or your favorite desserts. Everyone meet back at your respective homes and tune in to the event to share where you ordered from. Celebrate good times and good friends while giving a shout-out to the restaurants you love the most!\n\n\nJoin the crowd and use #WorldPartyDay to share on social media.\n\nSource Link

DESCRIPTION:Each year on April 3rd\, National Find a Rainbow Day challenges us to look to the sky and find a colorful ray of hope cast across it. \n\n\n \n#FindARainbowDay\nThere are people that see rainbows as an artistic masterpiece in the sky\, to others it is a sign of hope and to many a sign of promise.\nIt can be all three; beauty\, hope and promise.    (Jill Magnus) \n \nA spectrum of light in the form of a multicolored arc\, appearing in the sky\, is caused by both reflection and refraction of light in water droplets in the Earth’s atmosphere. These rainbows always appear directly opposite of the sun. The light is refracted (bent) when it enters a droplet of water\, then is reflected inside on the back of the droplet and refracted again when leaving it. \nRed is the color that is visible on the outer part of a rainbow and violet on the inside of a primary rainbow. Children learn in science class the mnemonic ROYGBIV to help them to remember the sequence of colors in a rainbow: red\, orange\, yellow\, green\, blue\, indigo\, violet. Many forms of airborne water can cause rainbows including\, rain\, mist\, spray\, and dew. \n\n\n \nHOW TO OBSERVE FIND A RAINBOW DAY\n\nFind yourself a rainbow or use the garden hose or a prism to make one yourself.\nFamilies\, students\, and classrooms\, create a rainbow from the colorful hearts on this printable. There’s at least one for every color in the rainbow. Take out your color crayons and finish what we’ve started.\nThen cut them out and put them in a cheerful\, sunny window to brighten the day of someone passing by.\nCreate a rainbow as part of a science project.\nUse #NationalFindARainbowDay to post on social media.\n\nSource Link

SUMMARY:World Health Day
DESCRIPTION:World Health Day is the global observance of health as a human right. From healthcare professionals to policymakers and individuals\, families with young children or elderly\, we all have a role to play in our personal health and the well-being of those around us. \nAs first-world resources emerge that continue to benefit the overall quality of life for the masses\, one important factor to these advancements is the ability to have consistent access to them. \n\n\n \nAs science continuously is finding ways of extending the duration and quality of our lives\, it’s only right for us to want all people to have access to these advancements no matter where they live. Each year\, thousands of lives are lost at the hand of preventable diseases simply based on geographical limitations. \nAccess to affordable healthcare means more people living meaningful\, productive\, and disease-free lives. According to the World Health Organization (WHO)\, healthcare costs push about 100 million people into extreme poverty each year because of out-of-pocket spending. \nThe World Health Organization uses this observance as an opportunity to release the World Health Statistics Report. This report is an annual publication of health data covering a wide range of areas from newborn and child health to environmental risks. In addition\, the report also provides data on the progression of universal health coverage. \n\n\n \nUniversal health coverage is the number one goal of the World Health Organization. Through achieving this\, everyone would be given access to the care they need\, when they need it. World Health Day is the opportune time to turn back to that aspiration. Like any great feat\, the journey doesn’t come without challenges. Today we invite everyone to celebrate the health they have and believe in an even healthier tomorrow for everyone. \nHOW TO OBSERVE #WorldHealthDay\n\nTake a moment to schedule a checkup with your primary care physician for either you or a loved one. Or better yet\, both!\nTalk with your physician about any concerns you have.\nVisit with family members about health history and provide the information to your doctor.\nLearn your risk factors.\nShare your healthy tips and habits with others.\nShow the world how you celebrate health using the hashtag #WorldHealthDay to post on social media.\n\n\n\n \nWORLD HEALTH DAY HISTORY\nThe World Health Assembly inaugurated World Health Day in 1950 as a celebration to generate awareness for specific health themes. Every year a different primary focus of the World Health Organization is presented in conjunction with World Health Day.

SUMMARY:First Contact Day
DESCRIPTION:First Contact Day on April 5th commemorates a fictional date in the future when an alien species visits Earth and makes contact with Earthlings for the first time. \n\n\n \n#FirstContactDay\nWhile the fictional date of 2063 is less than half a generation away\, mere humans contemplate the possibilities the further we explore space. Not only do the modern explorers keep our interests piqued\, but the science fiction genre continues to pour out stories that thrill and excite us. \nOne of science fiction’s common themes depicts the first meeting between humans and extraterrestrials. Conspiracy theories surround Area 51\, but a popular one speculates that first contact was made there. UFOs often stir up theories about the first contact\, too. The earliest documented sighting of a UFO took place in 1639 and was recorded by the governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony\, John Winthrop. \nWhile celebrating the first contact could mean many things\, this celebration focuses on one kind – the Vulcan/humankind meeting. That’s right. It’s a “final frontier” kind of celebration. \n\n\n \nHOW TO OBSERVE FIRST CONTACT DAY\n\nBrush up on your Star Trek history before you board the U.S.S. Enterprise. Actually\, you’ll need to study a little more recent history of sorts.\nIn any case\, here are some ideas for your celebration.\n\nAttend a first contact re-enactment party\nPractice your Vulcan greeting\nWatch the film Star Trek: First Contact\nVisit Bozeman\, Montana\nShare your first contact stories\nParticipate in online celebrations\nPlay the song “A Magic Carpet Ride”\nDownload and print the day’s coloring page.\n\n\nUse #FirstContactDay to share your experiences and to join the conversation on social media.\n\nSource Link

SUMMARY:National Siblings Day
DESCRIPTION:National Siblings Day (also referred to as Sibling Day) on April 10th each year honors our brothers and sisters. \n\n\n \n#NationalSiblingsDay\nSiblings. They are our best friends or our worst enemies. At times\, siblings will provide us with our biggest competition\, strongest encouragement and remind us of our most embarrassing moments. \nFictional characters describe those siblings best who are both rivals and yet best friends. From The Brady Bunch and the Cosby family to The Simpsons and the Piersons\, television siblings tell our stories in humorous and dramatic form. \nWhen is National Sisters Day? \nHowever\, real-life royal siblings Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret had a different set of rules to follow making their relationship quite different from anything we would call normal. Being a queen will do that. Queen Elizabeth’s grandsons\, Princes William and Harry and William’s children\, too have royal sibling relationships that engage the world. \nPlaying fictional characters who are siblings and being siblings in front of a television audience must have created a different lifestyle for Mary Kate and Ashley Olson. Their older sister is Elizabeth. Another pair of sibling actors is Shirley MacLaine and Warren Beatty. And don’t forget the exuberant Tia and Tamera Mowry. \nWhen is Brother’s Day? \nThere have been plenty of presidents with siblings as well. George W. Bush has five siblings and William Jefferson Clinton has three. \nHow many siblings do you have? Are you rivals or do you support each other in all you do? \n\n\n \nHOW TO OBSERVE NATIONAL SIBLINGS DAY\n\nCelebrate your siblings and the times you’ve had together.\nLaugh at the awkward and ill-spent time in your youth.\nCatch up with your sibling(s). Enjoy looking at photos and videos of time spent with your sibling(s).\nPlay a song or two from the 35 Best Sister Songs list.\nShare photos of you and your siblings.\nUse #NationalSiblingsDay to post on social media.\n\nSource Link

SUMMARY:National Living Donor Day
DESCRIPTION:National Living Donor Day on April 11 celebrates and honors the brave people who step up and save lives by donating their living organs and tissue to heal those in need. \n\n\n \n#NationalLivingDonorDay\nAccording to organdonor.gov\, there are over 104\,000 people in the United States on the national transplant waiting list. National Living Donor Day presents an opportunity to educate and encourage people to consider saving a life through living organ or tissue donation. \nApril is already recognized as National Donate Life Awareness Month. While the monthly celebration generates a positive impact on saving lives\, the focus tends to encourage individuals to sign up with the deceased donor registry to donate upon death. However\, there is a significant opportunity to complement these initiatives by designating a specific day during the month of April that focuses on raising awareness of living organ donation. By bringing awareness to National Living Donor Day\, we can demonstrate the importance of living donors by saving as many lives as possible by using living donor transplants. \nWhat Is Living Organ Donation?\nA living organ donation is a medical procedure that removes a healthy organ\, portion of an organ\, or tissue from a living person. The organ is then transplanted into another person whose organ is no longer working properly. Living organ donation allows the recipient to live a longer and healthier life. In addition\, the donor contributes to the life of another to continue their own personal journey. \nFinding an organ donor can be a difficult process for many. Organ donation does not discriminate and those in need of a donation include people of every age\, race\, and gender. In fact\, the demographic is so diverse\, no specific category fits one person. Some people may wait for years for a deceased donor. However\, living donors can alleviate and often eliminate the stress of waiting or wondering if an organ donation will happen before it’s too late. \n\n\n \nWho Can Be A Living Donor?\nAnyone can sign up to be a donor. Medical tests can help determine which recipient would benefit from your donation. Oftentimes\, people misunderstand who qualifies to become an organ donor. An organ donor can be: \n\nAnyone between the ages of 18 – 60 years of age at most transplant centers.\nA parent\, sibling or adult child.\nOther relatives\, such as an uncle\, aunt\, or cousin.\nA biologically unrelated person who knows the recipient\, such as a friend\, co-worker\, significant other\, or spouse of a friend.\nAnyone who knows the recipient’s need for the organ.\nA good Samaritan living donor simply decides to donate because they are a match to a stranger who is in need of an organ.\n\nMany people wonder what makes for a good living donor candidate. Generally speaking\, a good candidate is someone who has been mentally and physically healthy throughout their life. However\, there are other factors that go into deciding if you should become a living donor. Ultimately\, the decision is up to you. Some living donors want to be a part of something meaningful\, while others have a personal interest in why they choose to be living donors. Whether the living donor chooses to help for charitable reasons or because they believe in a specific organization\, living donors save lives. \n“If National Living Donor Day only saves a single life\, it still will be worth it as it will give that individual a second chance at life and allow them to make special memories with friends and families that would not have otherwise been possible.” \nDave Galbenski\, Founder\, Living Liver Foundation\n \nThe 4-1-1 of Living Donors\nIn 2022\, there were 5\,863 living donor kidney transplants comprising approximately 23% of kidney transplants in the U.S. In addition\, there were 603 living donor liver transplants comprising approximately 6% of liver transplants in the U.S. By increasing the number of living organ donors\, the transplant wait list has the potential to be eliminated\, ensuring that no one dies while waiting for the availability of a deceased organ. \nThe most common type of living donation is kidney donation\, where a donor donates one of their kidneys to a recipient. The second most common is liver donation\, where a donor donates a portion of their liver to a recipient. \nA major area of opportunity with living organ donation awareness is to educate the general public on the magical capability of the human liver. A significant amount of people in the U.S. are unaware that the liver is the only human organ that can regenerate. Not only does it regenerate in the donor to full size\, but it also regenerates to full size in the recipient. Proof that combining the innate capabilities of the human body with innovative ideas from the human mind can result in modern medical miracles. \nFor most living donors\, the cost of testing\, transplant surgery and follow-up care is covered by the recipient’s health care insurance. \n\n\n \nWAYS TO SUPPORT NATIONAL LIVING DONOR DAY\n\nVisit with your physician to begin the steps to becoming a living donor.\nSupport organizations that help find matches for those on the national donor list.\nHelp out a family who is recovering from a donor surgery.\nHold a fundraiser to alleviate costs for a living donor or recipient of a donor surgery.\nLearn about the different types of organs and tissue a living donor can give.\nHonor and support the transplant medical professionals and health systems that make living organ donation possible.\nShare your story about becoming a living donor or receiving an organ donation on social media using #NationalLivingDonorDay.\n\n\nA LIVING TESTAMENT\nIn 2023\, the Living Liver Foundation and National Day Calendar formed a working collaboration to celebrate National Living Donor Day on April 11 each year. The day celebrates and honors the brave people who step up and save lives by donating their living organs and tissue to heal those in need. Dave and Lynn Galbenski\, founders of the Living Liver Foundation\, are asking for our help to spread the word and encourage living donor transplants. We share their goal to save the lives of up to 17 people per day that might otherwise die while on the transplant list. \nThe Story Behind National Living Donor Day\nOn November 25\, 2019\, Dave Galbenski underwent a successful living donor liver transplant at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit\, Michigan. Thanks to the courage\, compassion\, and generosity of his brother-in-law\, Mark Dybis\, who stepped forward to become his living liver donor. From that moment\, Dave made a commitment to use his time\, talents\, and energy to promote living donor awareness to pay this tremendous gift of life forward. \nIn 2020\, Dave and Mark began to publicly tell their story to raise awareness of the impact of living organ donation. By providing key information and resources about living organ donation\, Dave and Mark are inspiring others to potentially consider becoming a living donor. \nFollow the Living Liver Foundation on any of these social media platforms and show your support for the organization and the services it provides to others. \nSource Link

SUMMARY:National Ellis Island Family History Day
DESCRIPTION:Each year on April 17th\, National Ellis Island Family History Day encourages families to explore their ancestry and discover family who immigrated through Ellis Island. \n\n\n \n#EllisIslandFamilyHistoryDay\nFrom 1892 to 1924\, Ellis Island served as the busiest inspection station for millions of immigrants to the United States. On this day in 1907\, officials recorded 11\,747 names passing through Ellis Island. It was the busiest day of immigration in the station’s history. During all of 1907\, officials processed over one million immigrants through Ellis Island. \nDuring its operation\, approximately 12 million immigrants passed through the halls of Ellis Island. It operated from 1892 to 1954. Before Ellis Island\, immigrants entered the United States in New York City at Castle Garden. Just months before Ellis Island’s opening\, the old depot was demolished and ushered in a new era of immigration. The Statue of Liberty overlooks Ellis Island and was one of the first sights the nearly 2\,000 immigrants a day would see as they disembarked. \nThe new facilities offered an improvement over the Castle Garden. The large\, open\, and airy facility presented an overwhelming obstacle to some\, though. Thousands of people from many cultures and speaking different languages gathered in one place. After such a long journey\, the arrival at Ellis Island must have been stressful and confusing. What an overwhelming and exciting experience for them all! For some\, they entered Ellis Island as a step toward their future. Officials turned others away for a variety of reasons. \n\n\n \nHOW TO OBSERVE ELLIS ISLAND FAMILY HISTORY DAY\nDo you have a family member who immigrated through Ellis Island? Explore your ancestry and follow your ancestors’ footsteps. Discover the history behind your family’s name or learn about their experiences as they traveled to a new land. Many documents reveal glimpses into their lives and their reasons for immigrating. \nThrough its website\, ellisisland.org\, you explore the histories of famous immigrants. SUMMARY:National Animal Crackers Day
DESCRIPTION:National Animal Crackers Day on April 18th each year celebrates a childhood favorite. A box of these sweet animal-shaped crackers not only provided a delicious snack\, but they also offered a little entertainment\, too! \n\n\n \n#NationalAnimalCrackersDay\nThe celebration brings us back to our childhood memories and the many boxes of Animal Crackers we shared with our friends. Animal Crackers refer to a type of small cookie baked in the shape of circus or zoo animals\, such as a lion\, tiger\, bear or elephant. The most common variety is light-colored and slightly sweet. However\, makers also offer chocolate and frosted varieties\, too. Even though animal crackers are made with layered dough\, much like crackers\, they are sweet like cookies. \n\n\n \nHOW TO OBSERVE NATIONAL ANIMAL CRACKER DAY\nIt’s a perfect day to celebrate that childhood memory again. Pick up some animal crackers at your local grocery store and share them with family and friends. \n\nMake your favorite dessert using animal crackers.\nThey’re great for dipping or adding to a fruit tray\, too. SUMMARY:National High Five Day
DESCRIPTION:Each year on the third Thursday in April\, we observe National High Five Day. This is a fun day where you can “High Five” everyone that you see. \n\n\n \n#NationalHighFiveDay\nFolklore fills the hallowed halls of sports stadiums concerning the origins of the high five. From the basketball to the volleyball court and baseball stadium\, the sports metaphor has been well worn on this topic. \nThe two most well-known claims take place in less than a two-year time span. \nDuring the last 1977 regular season Dodgers’ game\, Dusty Baker hit the home run that made the team the first in history to have four players with at least 30 regular-season home runs each.  As Baker rounded third and headed home\, Glenn Burke waited at home plate to congratulate him. In a moment that is Dodgers history but was never televised\, Burke greeted his teammate by raising his hand\, and they slapped hands in a victorious high five. \nDuring basketball’s 1978-79 season\, the University of Louisville basketball team switched up their regular low-fives on the home court thanks to Wiley Brown and Derek Smith. \nOut of all the triumphant sports gestures\, such as the fist bump\, fanny slap\, fist pump\, end zone dance\, and chest bump\, the high five stands in a class all its own. \n\n\n \nHOW TO OBSERVE NATIONAL HIGH FIVE DAY\n\nCelebrate with a high five!\nSee if you can find all the fives in the High Five hidden picture.\nOnce you’ve tried\, check out the key.\nIf you’re looking for ways to get children involved in sports\, check out local organizations for a list of sports activities in your town. That’s a High Five in our books!\nUse #NationalHighFiveDay to post on social media.\n\nSource Link

SUMMARY:Volunteer Recognition Day
DESCRIPTION:Volunteer Recognition Day is the annual celebration of those who selflessly benefit the lives of others. By providing a helping hand to those in need\, humans and animals alike\, we are all naturally working towards making the world a better place. \n\n\n \n#VolunteerRecognitionDay\nEvery single one of us has been benefited from the work of a volunteer and Volunteer Recognition Day acknowledges the beauty of this phenomenon. Every direction we turn\, we can do something outside of our daily list of requirements.  As you go about your day\, honor and thank those who go to the extra mile. \nHigh profile celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and Bono have made a name beyond the stage for their work with various foundations. Although most of us are not millionaires\, their work goes to show that anyone can get their hands dirty\, step out of their comfort zone and lend a hand to those in need. \n\n\n\nA lot of times volunteering comes down finding a cause that moves you. For some people\, taking care of animals influences them\, whereas the human condition calls to others requiring they meet the needs of a few or many in their community or far and wide. With so many opportunities to offer love and support to those who won’t take it for granted\, it’s hard not to want to get involved! \n\n\n \nHOW TO OBSERVE VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION DAY\nTake a moment to thank a volunteer in your life. \nEvaluate your current schedule and see where you can fit in time for volunteering. Pick a cause you’re passionate about! Whether it’s donating your money or often even more importantly\, your time\, there’s always something to be done. Don’t forget\, your skills are valuable to organizations\, too. Many volunteer organizations provide services to people who would otherwise go without if it weren’t for volunteers. So think of your specific skill set and consider who it might benefit if times are tough. \nHere are a few ideas to get you started: \n\ntax services to those who’ve fallen on hard times\nwig styling for someone undergoing chemo\ndental services for those who cannot afford dental insurance\nyard care for elderly or disabled\nsew quilts\, weighted blankets\, post-mastectomy drain bulb covers\, and many other projects to support those in need\n\nSource Link
