DESCRIPTION:“From the front lines of press freedom: The legal threats reshaping the news” will be the topic of a nationally known media and constitutional law attorney who will address the Youngstown Press Club on June 18. Atty. David Marburger will give the presentation at a noon luncheon at the main branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County\, 305 Wick Ave. \nMarburger\, who was the founding general counsel for the Ohio Coalition for Open Government\, has been practicing First Amendment law for more than 40 years. A retired partner in the national law firm of BakerHostetler\, working primarily from its Cleveland office\, Marburger has defended media in more than 110 libel suits. He has also brought lawsuits on behalf of the media to vindicate media rights under the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and under state open records and open meeting laws. He has been representing WFMJ-TV21 for more than two decades. He represented The Vindicator for more than 20 years. For years\, Marburger’s clients also included The Plain Dealer\, The Pittsburgh Press and other newspapers. In “retirement\,” he still represents news organizations. Before becoming a lawyer for journalists\, Marburger was a journalist at KQV all-news radio in Pittsburgh in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He is the co-author of a book about freedom of information in Ohio\, titled: “Access with Attitude.” \nPre-registration is required to attend this gathering\, which is open to the public. Ellie worked in retail first\, moving on to medical records at several hospitals and recently retiring from the food service industry.  She has been singing all her life and cantered at her church for years. In 1994 she won a contest to showcase her talent at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville\, TN. Two voices\, 1 guitar\, light percussion and custom tracks to create the original band sound. With new community partners\, a new location and a new name\, Move the Valley is launching the new Move at the Market walking group which will replace Walk Wednesdays at the Downtown Youngstown Farmers Market\, which is held every 2nd and 4th Thursday beginning at 4:00pm-7:30pm. Walkers will meet out front of the Main Branch of The Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County at 5:00pm from late April through October for a 1 mile walk around downtown to return to the Market. \nAll participants in the walk will return to the Downtown Youngstown Farmers Market at the end of the walk. DESCRIPTION:Opera Western Reserve is excited to present the Spring 2026 Production of Francis Poulenc’s The Voice! Composed in 1958 and originally based on the French play La Voix Humane by Jeane Cocteau\, this compelling one-act opera sung in English tells the story of a woman\, known only as Elle\, as she engages in a final phone call with her lover who has left her for another woman. As the conversation unfolds in real time\, the audience witnesses Elle’s emotional unravelling. \nJoin them in Penguin City’s Taproom for the show\, and enjoy raffle items\, a cash bar\, and Suzie’s food truck. Doors open to the public at 4:00pm on Wednesday\, June 10 with the event starting at 5:30pm and the performance beginning at 6:00pm. \nGeneral admission tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. VIP table packages also available: $300 for a table of eight or $160 for a table of four.
