SUMMARY:National Pool Opening Day
DESCRIPTION:Each year on the last Saturday in April\, National Pool Opening Day encourages pool owners across the country to prepare their swimming pools for a summer of fun\, fitness\, and enjoyment. \n\n\n \n#PoolOpeningDay\nSwimming pools offer many benefits including physical exercise\, social interaction and psychological benefits. Exercising in a swimming pool allows us to do many things that are difficult on land. The water makes us buoyant\, so we don’t put as much strain on our joints. It also creates resistance\, so every move becomes more of a workout. Another benefit is the cooling effect of water. It helps prevent overheating while exercising. Socializing at the swimming pool can be relaxing and fun. It can help relieve stress while enjoying friends and family. \n\n\n \nHOW TO OBSERVE POOL OPENING DAY\nTest and balance your water to ensure it is healthy and safe. Check your pool equipment for proper operation. Get out your favorite pool accessories so you can fully enjoy your pool. Post photos of you and your family enjoying your pool on social media using #PoolOpeningDay. \nSource Link

SUMMARY:National Peace Rose Day
DESCRIPTION:Each year on April 29th\, National Peace Rose Day honors a well-known and fruitful garden rose. \n\n\n \n#NationalPeaceRoseDay\nThe light yellow to large cream-colored flowers of the Peace rose have slightly flushed crimson pink petal edges. It is a hybrid tea rose that is hardy\, vigorous\, and highly resistant to disease. \nFrench horticulturist Francis Meilland developed the Peace rose between 1935 and 1939. When Meilland foresaw the German invasion of France to protect the new rose\, he sent cutting to his friends in Italy\, Turkey\, Germany\, and the United States. It is believed these cuttings were sent to the United States on the last plane available before the German invasion. \nEach country that received a cutting gave the rose a different name. It was called “Madame A. Meilland” in honor of the breeder’s mother in France. Italy named the rose Gioia\, meaning Joy. In Germany\, the name of the rose was Gloria Dei\, for glory to God. The United States named the rose “Peace\,” and the national flower of the United States is the rose. \nAs the Second World War came to a close in Europe\, the trade name “Peace” was publicly announced on April 29\, 1945\, by the Conrad Pyle Co. in the United States. \nLater in 1945\, Peace roses were given to each delegate at the inaugural meeting of the United Nations\, in San Francisco\, with a note that read: “We hope the Peace rose will influence men’s thoughts for everlasting world peace.” \n\n\n \nHOW TO OBSERVE NATIONAL PEACE ROSE DAY\n\nDiscover the beauty of the Peace Rose.\nPlant a Peace Rose shrub.\nShare clippings with others.\nShare the story of the Peace Rose.\nUse #NationalPeaceRoseDay to post on social media.\n\nSource Link

SUMMARY:National Underground America Day
DESCRIPTION:On March 14th\, National Underground America Day recognizes the approximately 6\,000 people who live in some form of underground architecture across North America. The observance also celebrates the lifestyle\, architecture\, and benefits of underground living. \n\n\n \n#UndergroundAmericaDay\nSubterranean living boasts energy conservation as one of its top advantages. Completely covered homes or earth-sheltered homes are covered on all sides with soil while earth-bermed homes leave one side exposed. Both allow for more stable temperatures within the home and less exposure to the elements. \nHowever\, living in an underground home also poses some disadvantages. If you like lots of light and throwing open the windows on a summer day\, this type of house might not be for you. While the underground lifestyle may not be for everyone\, the observance encourages exploring earth homes to discover the options available. \n\n\n \nHOW TO OBSERVE UNDERGROUND AMERICA DAY\nWhile learning more about Underground America Day\, tour an underground home or explore the various plans available. If you’ve ever considered an underground dwelling\, weigh the pros and cons. Do you live in an underground home? Share your experience and what you enjoy most. Use #UndergroundAmericaDay to post on social media. \nSource link

SUMMARY:National Road Trip Day
DESCRIPTION:The Friday before Memorial Day is declared National Road Trip Day and serves as the official kickoff of the summer road trip season. Millions of Americans hit the road each year over the long weekend to visit friends and family\, while paying tribute to our American heroes. \nOFFICIAL DESTINATION FOR NATIONAL ROAD TRIP DAY 2023\n\nNational Day Calendar is excited to announce Pontiac\, IL\, as the Official Destination for National Road Trip Day 2023. This year\, National Road Trip Day is celebrated on Friday\, May 26. Read more… \n#NATIONALROADTRIPDAY\nAmericans are anxious to hit the road to kick off the summer road trip season. A recent surveys suggest an overwhelming majority prefer driving as the leading choice for reaching their summer destinations. According to The Vacationer\, 80 percent of Americans are going to take a road trip this summer. In fact\, most are making plans for Memorial Day weekend and plan on traveling by car. \nWhether you’re seeking adventure\, visiting family and friends\, or making a business connection\, road trips are often a rite of passage. National Road Trip day is about making this vacation season all about the journey to the destination. \nGetting There\nRoad trips that begin and end with happy passengers are always the best. Here are a few tips to keep in mind. \n\nPlan ahead. Even a spur of the moment trip requires planning.\n\nTwo in five\, or 42 percent of road trippers find travel apps very helpful when planning their trip. Mapping out your stops ahead of time can be a great way to save both time and money.\nThe Pilot Flying J’s   myRewards PlusTM app allows travelers to tailor their trip routes. In addition\, the app helps travelers save on the go by showcasing specific amenities\, fuel prices and more.\n\n\nVehicle maintenance is vital to any successful road trip. Beyond the routine maintenance\, such as oil changes and sound tires\, other simple checks will keep you on the road.\n\nCheck your wipers and wiper fluid.\nMake sure your spare tire and jack are in place.\nEnsure all lights and signals are working.\nLook at the condition of your brake pads.\nVerify your car registration is current or not about to expire.\n\n\nPlot your course. Consider construction\, fuel and snack stops\, shopping\, and the interests of the other travelers.\n\nPrioritize your road trip for convenience and efficiency. About 58 percent of travelers want to stop at all-in-one rest stops that offer gas\, food\, drinks\, coffee\, bathrooms\, and more.\nGrab your “road trip essential” snacks. These can include chips and salty foods\, freshly made or grab-and-go foods\, and fast food options.\n\n\n\nHow do you travel?\nThere are two kinds of people who take road trips. \n\nThe tourist takes their time getting there and taking the scenic routes.\nThe pilot enjoys seeing the country from the car\, sets a course\, and frowns upon unscheduled stops or side trips. If you’re going together\, you might want to discuss a compromise before hitting the road!\n\nNo matter the destination\, road trips include an element of expectation and rarely disappoint. The best road trips bring us closer to people over a stick of beef jerky and car karaoke. They connect us to places through memories\, a postcard\, and the kindness of strangers. \nHITTING THE ROAD\nIt is that time of year where families and friends prepare for National Road Trip Day by hitting the road and discovering exciting new destinations. Let the Summer times roll! \nSource Link

SUMMARY:National Scavenger Hunt Day
DESCRIPTION:National Scavenger Hunt Day on May 24th each year sends us off to find random items all in the name of good fun. \n#ScavengerHuntDay\nAmerican gossip columnist\, author\, songwriter\, and professional hostess Elsa Maxwell (May 24\, 1883 – November 1\, 1963) is credited with the introduction of the scavenger hunt for use as a party game in the modern era. \nThe game challenges teams to scavenge for a list of odd items. As part of the rules\, participants are not allowed to buy the objects. Depending on where the hunt takes place\, players may have to beg\, barter\, or even work for them\, too. Some scavenger hunts add difficulty to the game by adding riddles describing each item. The team with the most items\, or the first to complete the list\, wins. \nHOW TO OBSERVE SCAVENGER HUNT DAY\nScavenger hunts have become popular at weekend get-togethers\, parties\, family gatherings\, and holidays. Even co-workers put together scavenger hunts to keep the workday interesting. Practice your riddle-making and create a scavenger hunt for family and friends. \nIf you’re looking for a scavenger hunt\, download and print the Game Piece Scavenger Hunt we created. It can be played traditionally or at home. You don’t even have to have the game pieces to play the game. Print pictures of the required pieces. Add extra clues to the riddles to guide players to where the images will be found. \nUse #ScavengerHuntDay to post on social media. \nSource Link
