SUMMARY:National Sister Day
DESCRIPTION:National Sisters Day on the first Sunday in August celebrates the unique bond between sisters. This particular set of siblings embrace moments that make them laugh and cringe. While they don’t always agree\, sisters have each other’s backs. \n#NationalSistersDay\nAll siblings have the odd argument here and there\, but deep down there’s little way around the natural connection between siblings. Even those who don’t have a natural sister sibling know the bonds of sisterhood. Those who forge a relationship with their spouse’s sisters understand. Also\, women who support each other through difficult times form a sisterhood. \nCelebrating National Sister Day on this Sunday \n \nA sister is like yourself in a different movie\,\na movie that stars you in a different life. ~ Deborah Tannen \nNo two sisters are alike. From love interests to cars\, sisters will disagree. And food\, cleaning\, and children require interventions. However\, we rely on each other while privately envying a sister’s style\, ability or grace. A sister understands when no one else does\, sometimes when even you don’t. So\, sister time provides vital healing. \nWhether your sisters harrassed you from day one or found you later in life\, this day brings you back together. Cherish the memories and make plans to create new ones. Reconnect or patch up any misunderstandings. Sisters are forever.

SUMMARY:National Siblings Day
DESCRIPTION:National Siblings Day (also referred to as Sibling Day) on April 10th each year honors our brothers and sisters. \n\n\n \n#NationalSiblingsDay\nSiblings. They are our best friends or our worst enemies. At times\, siblings will provide us with our biggest competition\, strongest encouragement and remind us of our most embarrassing moments. \nFictional characters describe those siblings best who are both rivals and yet best friends. From The Brady Bunch and the Cosby family to The Simpsons and the Piersons\, television siblings tell our stories in humorous and dramatic form. \nWhen is National Sisters Day? \nHowever\, real-life royal siblings Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret had a different set of rules to follow making their relationship quite different from anything we would call normal. Being a queen will do that. Queen Elizabeth’s grandsons\, Princes William and Harry and William’s children\, too have royal sibling relationships that engage the world. \nPlaying fictional characters who are siblings and being siblings in front of a television audience must have created a different lifestyle for Mary Kate and Ashley Olson. Their older sister is Elizabeth. Another pair of sibling actors is Shirley MacLaine and Warren Beatty. And don’t forget the exuberant Tia and Tamera Mowry. \nWhen is Brother’s Day? \nThere have been plenty of presidents with siblings as well. George W. Bush has five siblings and William Jefferson Clinton has three. \nHow many siblings do you have? Are you rivals or do you support each other in all you do? \n\n\n \nHOW TO OBSERVE NATIONAL SIBLINGS DAY\n\nCelebrate your siblings and the times you’ve had together.\nLaugh at the awkward and ill-spent time in your youth.\nCatch up with your sibling(s). Enjoy looking at photos and videos of time spent with your sibling(s).\nPlay a song or two from the 35 Best Sister Songs list.\nShare photos of you and your siblings.\nUse #NationalSiblingsDay to post on social media.\n\nSource Link

SUMMARY:National Ellis Island Family History Day
DESCRIPTION:Each year on April 17th\, National Ellis Island Family History Day encourages families to explore their ancestry and discover family who immigrated through Ellis Island. \n\n\n \n#EllisIslandFamilyHistoryDay\nFrom 1892 to 1924\, Ellis Island served as the busiest inspection station for millions of immigrants to the United States. On this day in 1907\, officials recorded 11\,747 names passing through Ellis Island. It was the busiest day of immigration in the station’s history. During all of 1907\, officials processed over one million immigrants through Ellis Island. \nDuring its operation\, approximately 12 million immigrants passed through the halls of Ellis Island. It operated from 1892 to 1954. Before Ellis Island\, immigrants entered the United States in New York City at Castle Garden. Just months before Ellis Island’s opening\, the old depot was demolished and ushered in a new era of immigration. The Statue of Liberty overlooks Ellis Island and was one of the first sights the nearly 2\,000 immigrants a day would see as they disembarked. \nThe new facilities offered an improvement over the Castle Garden. The large\, open\, and airy facility presented an overwhelming obstacle to some\, though. Thousands of people from many cultures and speaking different languages gathered in one place. After such a long journey\, the arrival at Ellis Island must have been stressful and confusing. What an overwhelming and exciting experience for them all! For some\, they entered Ellis Island as a step toward their future. Officials turned others away for a variety of reasons. \n\n\n \nHOW TO OBSERVE ELLIS ISLAND FAMILY HISTORY DAY\nDo you have a family member who immigrated through Ellis Island? Explore your ancestry and follow your ancestors’ footsteps. Discover the history behind your family’s name or learn about their experiences as they traveled to a new land. Many documents reveal glimpses into their lives and their reasons for immigrating. \nThrough its website\, ellisisland.org\, you explore the histories of famous immigrants. You can also search passenger lists and follow the clues to your family’s past. While you research\, take a virtual tour or learn genealogy basics. Learn about these 7 Notable Ellis Island Immigrants and as you celebrate your day\, be sure to share your experience\, too. \nUse #EllisIslandFamilyHistoryDay to post on social media. \nSource Link

SUMMARY:Mother's Day
DESCRIPTION:Mother’s Day is a time-honored tradition of recognizing the women in our lives who raised us\, dried our tears\, and well\, mothered us. Everyone has one or has someone who is like a mother to them. On the second Sunday of May\, we honor those women who are our mothers. Whether we shower her with gifts\, take her to a fancy dinner or make her a homemade card\, what moms want most is to be surrounded by the love of her family. Knowing the people they love are safe\, sound\, and healthy is a mom’s number one priority. \n\n\n \n#MothersDay\nHOW TO OBSERVE MOTHER’S DAY\nPay tribute to your mother this holiday. Surround her with the love she deserves and shower her with the affection and attention you know she wants. For those of us whose moms are no longer with us\, spend some time remembering the woman you miss. Visit with those who remember her and honor her memory. If you’re a mom\, revel in the attention. You deserve it! \nRemember to put mom first on Mother’s Day and use #MothersDay to share on social media. \n\n\n \nSource Link

The International Day of Families provides an opportunity to promote awareness of issues relating to families and to increase knowledge of the social\, economic and demographic processes affecting them. It has inspired a series of awareness-raising events\, including national family days. (Could be a baby or a new marriage.)\n4. Who are the newest newlyweds?\n5. How many states does our family live in?\n6. Who recently retired?\n7. How many military members are in the family? (Give them each a little flag to recognize.)\n8. In what year did our family make it over to the United States?\n9. What is our family’s native language?\n10. How many people are in our family total?\n11. Who plays what musical instruments?\n12. Who has traveled to the most countries? The most states? \nSource Link

SUMMARY:All for the Kids Day
DESCRIPTION:Chronic and terminal illnesses impact the lives of tens of thousands of children daily in the United States. These conditions affect not only the everyday life and activities of a child but present challenges for parents\, siblings\, families\, and friends. Children with chronic and terminal illnesses also require extensive therapies and medical care all of which can come at a great cost\, to families financially and emotionally. All for the Kids Day\, a national day of recognition\, provides hope and support for these kids and their families. \n\n\n \nIn an effort to raise awareness Anthony Spano\, Founder & Executive Director of The Hope Foundation of the Mahoning Valley\, saw the need for assisting these families right in the Mahoning Valley. But he knew that the need for assistance reached well beyond the valley. So Anthony joined with a national network of organizations\, community leaders and legislators all sharing a mission to proclaim May 15 the National All for the Kids Day in March of 2016. In December 2016\, Gov. John Kasich signed Ohio HB 580 into law\, which included companion legislation offered by Senate Minority Leader Joe Schiavoni\, D-33\, establishing the National All for the Kids Day for May 15. Click here to see the state law. \n\n\n \nHow can you get involved? You can make a direct impact on the quality of life for these children and their families by supporting the national National All for the Kids Day. Donate today. Your tax-deductible financial donation will help provide the needed resources to support these children. Purchase a T-shirt and wear it on May 15th. Be a part of a nationwide movement to gain federal recognition for the National All for the Kids Day and show these children and their families that they are not alone. Spread the word on social media. You can support this worthwhile cause by making our presence visible as far and wide as possible. #AllforKidsDay | #ItsALLfortheKIDS \n\n\nHow Does National All for the Kids Day Help?\n\n\n\n\nBy raising awareness on a local\, state\, and national level\, All for the Kids Day focuses more attention on the pervasiveness of families who are struggling with serious medical conditions. By helping the National All for the Kids Day you will join with thousands of families and organizations across America that share mission work to provide assistance and support to families who require financial and volunteer support. \nAnthony Spano and The Hope Foundation started the All for the Kids Day national movement with the goal that we will be able to generate increased community awareness and support for children nationwide. \n\n\nSource Link
