SUMMARY:National Foster Day
DESCRIPTION:We are raising our voices on the first Tuesday in May to celebrate National Foster Day and encourage everyone to wear blue in support for foster youth in the U.S. \n\n\n \n#FOSTERCAREBLUE\nAs we kick off Foster Care Month\, we are providing the platform to help repair a system that is plagued with shortages nationwide. National Foster Care Day shines a badly needed light on the foster care system. There is a nationwide shortage of foster parents. In addition\, stipends provided to foster care parents do no cover the essentials of a growing child. \nEvery 2 minutes\, a new child is placed within the foster care system. Currently\, there are over 400\,000 children in the system at any given time. Many youth enter the foster care system with little to no belongings. Sadly\, many of these kids have also suffered the effects of abuse\, poverty\, neglect\, or even the death of their loved ones. The need for support services\, essential items\, and foster parents is high. Foster children have an uphill battle with startling statistics to overcome and need the support of our communities across the country. \nFoster Care Statistics\n\nAround 250\,00 children enter foster care each year.\nOnly 50% of youth in foster care graduate high school.\nFoster children suffer PTSD at more than twice the rate of U.S. war veterans.\nOne out of five foster children experience homelessness within 1 year of aging out of care.\nOne-third of young women in foster care are pregnant or parenting by the age of 17 or 18.\nMore than 70% of inmates incarcerated were in the foster care system at one point.\nStipends do not cover the essentials of a growing child.\n\n\n\n \nWhen you volunteer to become a court appointed special advocate or foster care parent you receive specialized training. You are not just providing a home for the child\, you are a representative providing a safe haven for abused and neglected children. \nNationwide\, there is a shortage of licensed foster homes. In the U.S. alone\, more than 100\,000 children waiting for a family to call home. Organizations like Ticket to Dream and Project Blue will help guide you on your journey to become a foster parent. Together\, you will make a difference to help foster children heal and grow to their full potential. \nRAISE AWARENESS\n\nVolunteer for your local foster care nonprofit to raise funding.\nOpen your hope to a foster child by becoming a foster parent.\nShare this page to increase awareness and interest in the foster care system.\nWear blue to show support for foster care youth.\nShare your stories about foster care using #FosterCareBlue on social media.\n\nSource Link

SUMMARY:Fathers Day
DESCRIPTION:On the third Sunday in June\, Father’s Day honors the role fathers play in the family structure and society. The day recognizes not just fathers\, but the father figures in our lives. These are the men we look up to who set solid examples for us and guide us throughout our lives. \n#FathersDay\nMany families dedicate the day to their fathers and grandfathers. Whether they are first-time fathers just learning to change a diaper\, or experienced fathers offering sage advice\, the day celebrates everything a father is. Fathers from family to family play a variety of roles. They may be a caregiver\, provider\, or advisor. Some fathers are the strong\, silent types. And yet others tell us stories for days. Fathers teach\, guiding small hands as they hammer a nail or sail a kite. \nWe only look up to our fathers for so long. At some point\, we begin to see things a little differently. But that’s not when we stop looking up to them. It’s at that point\, we turn and look forward together. \nSTN Inspirational Quotes To Keep You Inspired in 2021

SUMMARY:National Friendship Day
DESCRIPTION:Friendships come in many forms\, and we begin developing them when we’re very young. Throughout our lives\, friendships and their meanings evolve. Our classmates and neighborhood pals explored the world with us. Together we shared experiences and made plans for the future. Eventually\, paths diverge and new friends find a place in our social experience. Our world expands and our culture changes. \nWith each new friend\, we expand our view of the world. Their experiences contribute to new meaning in our lives. Through friendships\, we grow and broaden our horizons. Eventually\, the world becomes smaller and more connected. \nCelebrating National Friendship Day on this Sunday

SUMMARY:National Sister Day
DESCRIPTION:National Sisters Day on the first Sunday in August celebrates the unique bond between sisters. This particular set of siblings embrace moments that make them laugh and cringe. While they don’t always agree\, sisters have each other’s backs. \n#NationalSistersDay\nAll siblings have the odd argument here and there\, but deep down there’s little way around the natural connection between siblings. Even those who don’t have a natural sister sibling know the bonds of sisterhood. Those who forge a relationship with their spouse’s sisters understand. Also\, women who support each other through difficult times form a sisterhood. \nCelebrating National Sister Day on this Sunday \n \nA sister is like yourself in a different movie\,\na movie that stars you in a different life. ~ Deborah Tannen \nNo two sisters are alike. From love interests to cars\, sisters will disagree. And food\, cleaning\, and children require interventions. However\, we rely on each other while privately envying a sister’s style\, ability or grace. A sister understands when no one else does\, sometimes when even you don’t. So\, sister time provides vital healing. \nWhether your sisters harrassed you from day one or found you later in life\, this day brings you back together. Cherish the memories and make plans to create new ones. Reconnect or patch up any misunderstandings. Sisters are forever.

SUMMARY:National Step in a Puddle and Splash Your Friends Day
DESCRIPTION:On National Step in a Puddle and Splash Your Friends Day\, particular criteria must be present to celebrate. On January 11th\, unless the ideal conditions prevail\, some areas of the country may have to create them. So\, can we really? Well\, yes\, the name of the day says you can!  Life is short….let’s have fun! And good luck. \n\n\n \n\n\n\n#StepInAPuddleAndSplashYourFriendsDay\n\n\n\nIf you are feeling somewhat mischievous (in a nice kind of way)\, join in on the celebration that all kids will love and all the young-at-heart adults will love just the same. Put on your boots\, raincoats\, slickers and grab some rubber duckies\, too. Skip along the way. Splashing in puddles can be a terrific way to relieve stress. There’s no right or wrong way to splashing or stepping in a puddle. We’re going to get wet and probably a little dirty no matter how you do it. So splash away. \nNow\, if you live in a more frozen region of the country\, we encourage you to find alternative ways to celebrate. We know you’ll be creative and safe. \n\n\n \nHOW TO OBSERVE STEP IN A PUDDLE AND SPLASH YOUR FRIENDS DAY\nOn National Step in A Puddle and Splash Your Friends Day\, invite your besties to join you for a fun-filled time reliving those days when you didn’t worry about getting your feet wet. Dance and splash in the puddles! Sing some splashing in puddle songs or check out this great video expressing the joy of splashing in puddles. \nUse #StepInAPuddleAndSplashYourFriendsDay to post on social media. \nSource Link

SUMMARY:National Sticker Day
DESCRIPTION:National Sticker Day on January 13th recognizes all the ways stickers brighten up a page or send a special message. The day celebrates all things stickers\, from the custom printing of them to sharing stickers. Every sticker has a story. \n\n\n \n\n\n\n#NationalStickerDay\n\n\n\nHistorians credit the European merchants in the 1880s as the first to stick labels to their products\, in an effort to promote their goods and wares to passersby. \nThese savvy\, pre-industrial entrepreneurs used a gum paste to get the labels to adhere and\, well\, stick: hence “stickers.” By the 1900s a sticker-specific paste had been developed and was widely used\, most notably on stamps\, which dried and then would re-apply when moistened. \nThe observance is in honor of R. Stanton Avery\, who was born on that day in 1907. Avery was the original creator of the adhesive label with removable backing. \n\n\n \nHOW TO OBSERVE NATIONAL STICKER DAY\nNational Sticker Day offers so many ways to celebrate! We won’t limit it to any age group either\, so be sure to invite everyone to the party. That means everyone deserves a sticker whether they are shopping online\, promoting their business\, or learning something new. While you are planning your celebration\, be sure to check out these ideas\, too. \n\nHost a sticker collection contest. Award prizes for the largest\, most colorful\, and most original collections.\nStickers bring in business\, too. Create a buzz around special days using stickers.\nThey inspire creativity in the classroom. Ask students to design stickers for events and campaigns.\nGet organized! Color code your favorite projects with stickers that keep you on track.\n\nTake photos of them to post on social media using #NationalStickerDay. \nLearn more about the history behind National Sticker Day and Sticker Giant by reading Celebration Spotlight. \nNATIONAL STICKER DAY HISTORY\nStickerGiant\, a promotional sticker and product label company based in Longmont\, Colorado\, created National Sticker Day in 2015 to celebrate all the fun stickers bring to all ages. \nSource Link.

SUMMARY:National Rubber Ducky Day
DESCRIPTION:According to a 1973 Sesame Street calendar\, Rubber Duckie’s Birthday is January 13th so around the country it’s National Rubber Ducky Day! A friend of Ernie and Big Bird\, Duckie made his debut in a February 1970 episode. \n\n\n \n#NationalRubberDuckyDay\nThe rubber ducky (also spelled duckie) has come a long way from his first concept as a chew toy for children. While the origin of the first rubber ducky is uncertain\, many rubber molded toys came about when rubber manufacturing developed in the late 1800s. They produced a variety of toys from dolls and various animal shapes\, including the rubber duck. \nIn 1928\, Landon Smart Lawrence received the earliest patent for a rubber duck toy. His clever design weighted the toy so that when it tipped it returned to an upright position. The sketch included with the patent was that of a duck. \nDuring World Wars I and II\, rubber was a valuable commodity. Rationing became mandatory and by the 1940s with the advent of plastic\, the rubber ducky began being produced in vinyl and plastic. Russian Sculptor Peter Ganine sculpted many animal figures. One\, a duck\, he later designed and patented into a floating toy that closely resembles the rubber ducky we have become familiar with today. \nSales of the iconic yellow rubber ducky we’ve come to know today soared in Britain in 2001. Why? A British Tabloid\, The Sun\, reported Queen Elizabeth II had a rubber duck in her bathroom that wore an inflatable crown. \nThe rubber ducky became a Toy Hall of Fame inductee in 2013. Founded in 1998\, the Hall of Fame has only inducted 52 other toys. \n\n\n \nHOW TO OBSERVE NATIONAL RUBBER DUCKY DAY\nSpend time with your favorite rubber ducky. Share photos of your rubber ducky collection. Discover all the different kinds of rubber duckies available. Use #NationalRubberDuckyDay to post on social media. \nNATIONAL RUBBER DUCKY DAY HISTORY\nWhile our research did not uncover the creator of National Rubber Ducky Day\, National Day Calendar® is pretty fond of the idea that it has to do with Sesame Street’s Rubber Duckie. \nSource Link:

SUMMARY:National Tooth Fairy Day
DESCRIPTION:February 28th\, National Tooth Fairy Day\, encourages us to take a look back on the history of one of dental care’s little helpers. It’s one way our children develop good dental hygiene. \n#NationalToothFairyDay\nLike some of the fantastic creations who oversee children\, the tooth fairy is a relative newcomer to the world of childhood fantasies. \n\n\n \n1920s\nIn the mid-1920s\, fairies were used for all sorts of health education\, from bath fairies to fresh air fairies as a way to get kids to remember to eat their vegetables\, wash behind their ears and get a good night’s rest. Like toothpaste today advertises fruity flavors and sparkles to get kids excited to brush their teeth\, in 1925\, it was probably quite a bit more difficult considering the pastes were mostly peroxide and baking soda. One advertisement was for a Fairy Wand Tooth Whitener. This product promised to brush away cigarette and coffee stains. The ad was aimed at both children and adults\, we hope! \nThen in 1927\, Esther Watkins Arnold printed an eight-page playlet for children called The Tooth Fairy. The same year Sir Arthur Conan Doyle “proved” his claim that fairies and gnomes are real and “verified” with pictures of two little girls surrounded by fairies. The world was ripe with imagination and primed to have a tooth fairy to come collect the lost teeth of little boys and girls and leave a coin or two behind. \nArnold’s play began to be performed in schools the following year\, and the tooth fairy has been slipping into homes ever since. She (or he) started leaving nickels and dimes under the pillows of sleeping children. Over the years\, there have been variations on the theme. \n1942\nIn 1942\, in an article written by columnist Bob Balfe in the Palm Beach Post\, his children received War Stamps to put in their books when they lost a tooth. It was a popular alternative during a time when giving to the war effort was a motivating factor. \nToday\nToday\, the tooth fairy jingles less often. The average payout for a lost tooth ranges from $3 to $4 and can go even higher if Dad is on duty or if the tooth is lost late at night with no time for a parent to run to an ATM. \n\n\n \nHOW TO OBSERVE NATIONAL TOOTH FAIRY DAY\n\nMake an appointment for your next cleaning.\nAsk your parents if they still have the first tooth you lost.\nBe a tooth fairy!\nVolunteer or give to dental organizations. Many of them provide free or low-cost dental care to those who cannot afford it. Others support dental students in their educational journey. These organizations are a vital part of our communities and states. You can also give a shout-out to your favorite organization. Be a tooth fairy to those near you. We found a few that might interest you.\n\nAmerica’s Dentists Care Foundation\, Missions of Mercy \nNational Children’s Oral Health Foundation\, also known as America’s Toothfairy\n\n\nDownload this coloring page to celebrate!\nUse #NationalToothFairyDay to post on social media\n\nSource link

SUMMARY:National Sons Day
DESCRIPTION:Every year on March 4th\, National Sons Day honors the sons of the world and those who raise them. The day also takes a look at a son’s role and his relationship with those around him. \nAround the world\, slightly more sons are born than daughters. Both bring joy to families\, though. Our rambunctious sons grow into adult men and forge their own independence in the world. Some are soft-spoken and gentle. Others with a spark of curiosity fill every hour with questions\, some unanswerable. \nParents and family members strive to mold them into a person better than we are. Sons\, like many children\, test the boundaries until one day\, they stand before us\, grown. National Sons Day encourages parents to be role models and provide the boundaries sons need. Celebrate their successes while guiding them through their failures. Give them a foundation of skills that they will rely on for a lifetime and pass on to their sons. \nEach day as a son and the parent of one is a treasure. Boys need us to model responsibility\, hard work\, and integrity. As they work and learn beside us\, those qualities will be instilled in them. The day reminds us of the value our sons bring to our lives and others. \n\n\n \nHOW TO OBSERVE #NationalSonsDay\n\nConsider all the things you want your son to know and be when he’s an adult.\nTake the day to teach your son something you think is important for him to know. Change a tire or balance the checkbook. The small tasks\, the mundane ones are the ones that get in the way when we don’t know how to do them. Bond over the experience by letting him know you teach him these skills to clear a path for the bigger events in his life.\nJoin an organization for mentoring boys without male role models.\nFind a role model that fits the interests of your son.\nTeach your son something your father taught you.\nOffer to give a skills class at a school.\nMake the day unique by taking a photograph with all the sons together and share on social media using #NationalSonsDay.\n\n\n\n \nNATIONAL SONS DAY HISTORY\nIn 2018\, Jill Nico created National Sons Day celebrating the importance and significance of sons and those who raise them. While there’s no single reason for selecting March 4th\, the founder explains spring seemed ideal\, and the date resounds with momentum when spoken. Additionally\, many sons enjoy spring sports\, and it’s an excellent time to spend time outdoors. Visit the Facebook page to join in the celebration. \nIn the late 1990s\, an effort to create National Sons Day began as a counterpart to National Take Your Daughters to Work Day. By 1998\, the group called National Sons Day created National Take Your Sons to Work Day. In later years\, the separate observances joined forces. \nSource Link

SUMMARY:National Promposal Day
DESCRIPTION:On March 11th\, National Promposal Day prompts the ultimate question each year. “Will you go to prom with me?” It’s the day for high school students across North America to craft their unique invitation to the event of the year. \n\n\n \n#NationalPromposalDay\nProm takes a lot of planning. That includes finding the right tux\, the right dress\, shoes\, and accessories. Does mom teach you how to dance or do you take a dance class? Do you borrow dad’s car or rent a limo? Those are just a few of the details. But that’s getting ahead of the plan.
